Here is assignment 1. It is due next Wednesday, February 4th.
STEAM Research Project
Assignment #1 Powerpoint/Prezi/GoogleDoc
(Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math)
Directions: You will conduct research on your STEAM field
of study and complete a power point of the information you gathered during your
research
- Research and gather information
to answer 3 Essential Questions
- Research and gather information
to answer 3 additional Topic Specific Questions
- Complete PowerPoint or Prezi
that contains (minimum of 7 slides):
- Title Page with your Name and Homeroom
- 6 (or more) Research Results Slides
- one slide for each Essential Question
- one sslide for each “Student Choice” Topic

3 Essential Questions (all
students must answer these questions for the research)
- Define your STEAM area of study
and explain why it is important
- Example:
- Microbiology (fungi, bacteria
growth)
- Engineering (building,
constructing)
- Computer Science (video
gaming, html)
- Botany (plant studies)
- Chemistry (acid and bases,
chemical reactions)
- Who is one of the innovators
(famous scientist/person) in your field and what was their greatest
contribution to their field? Create a timeline to demonstrate the
evolution of the contribution.
- What is one of the careers in
your field of study? What does someone with this career do and what
tools do they use?
3 “Student Choice” Topic
Specific Question
- For this section it is up to
YOU to create a 3 questions to ask about your field of study
- These questions should help
lead you to a greater understanding of your field of study
- This is your opportunity to be
in charge of your learning...no rules, just exploration!
Remember, your research
project should be in a PowerPoint/Prezi form, and ONE SLIDE for each of the
questions you are answering the upcoming STEAM fair...so show us what you got!
Those students who
provide us with the BEST RESEARCH will be given special preference for the
upcoming STEAM Fair project.
Preference is for a
Google Doc or Google Presentation. If You use one of these I will award you 20
extra dojo points.
