Hey munchkins!

Here is assignment 1. It is due next Wednesday, February 4th.

STEAM Research Project
Assignment #1 Powerpoint/Prezi/GoogleDoc
(Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math)

Directions: You will conduct research on your STEAM field of study and complete a power point of the information you gathered during your research

  1. Research and gather information to answer 3 Essential Questions
  2. Research and gather information to answer 3 additional Topic Specific Questions
  3. Complete PowerPoint or Prezi that contains (minimum of 7 slides):
    1. Title Page with your Name and Homeroom
    2. 6 (or more) Research Results Slides
      1. one slide for each Essential Question
      2. one sslide for each “Student Choice” Topic Specific Question.

3 Essential Questions (all students must answer these questions for the research)
  1. Define your STEAM area of study and explain why it is important
    1. Example:
      1. Microbiology (fungi, bacteria growth)
      2. Engineering (building, constructing)
      3. Computer Science (video gaming, html)
      4. Botany (plant studies)
      5. Chemistry (acid and bases, chemical reactions)
  1. Who is one of the innovators (famous scientist/person) in your field and what was their greatest contribution to their field? Create a timeline to demonstrate the evolution of the contribution.
  2. What is one of the careers in your field of study?  What does someone with this career do and what tools do they use?

3 “Student Choice” Topic Specific Question
  • For this section it is up to YOU to create a 3 questions to ask about your field of study
  • These questions should help lead you to a greater understanding of your field of study
  • This is your opportunity to be in charge of your learning...no rules, just exploration!

Remember, your research project should be in a PowerPoint/Prezi form, and ONE SLIDE for each of the questions you are answering the upcoming STEAM fair...so show us what you got!

Those students who provide us with the BEST RESEARCH will be given special preference for the upcoming STEAM Fair project.

Due Date: Friday, 02.04.2015àSave & Send all PPT/Prezi to chalmersscience@gmail.com
